Bunzl Canada Inc. (“Bunzl”) – Official Contest Rules
THESE RULES ARE THE STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO THE CONTESTS AND GIVEAWAYS (EACH A “CONTEST” AND COLLECTIVELY, THE “CONTESTS”) ADMINISTERED BY BUNZL CANADA INC., WHICH CONTESTS MAY BE ENTERED THROUGH THE APPROPRIATE LINKS ON THE CONTEST WEBSITE (AS DEFINED BELOW). THE CONTEST IS INTENDED TO BE CONDUCTED IN CANADA ONLY AND SHALL BE CONSTRUED AND EVALUATED ACCORDING TO APPLICABLE CANADIAN LAW. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE REACHED THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN THE PROVINCE OR TERRITORY IN CANADA IN THE JURISDICTION OF THEIR RESIDENCE AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. VOID IN WHOLE OR IN PART WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. ENTRY IN THE CONTEST CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONTEST RULES (THE “CONTEST RULES”).
1. Eligibility
To be eligible for a Contest, an individual must:
(a) be a legal resident of a province or territory in Canada; and
(b) have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in Canada in which they reside at the time of entry into a Contest.
Excluded from entering and participating in the Contests are the following:
- Officers, directors, and employees of Bunzl, their parent, related and affiliated companies, their subsidiaries, franchisees, advertising, and promotional agencies and Contest prize providers (collectively, the “Contest Sponsors”), and members of such officers’, directors’, and employees’ immediate families (defined as parents, siblings, children, spouses and life partners, regardless of where they live) or households (whether or not related);
- a person who has been confirmed as a winner of one (1) Bunzl administered contest within one (6) month period preceding the indicated Contest start date unless otherwise specified by the Contest Sponsors.
The Contest Sponsors shall have the right, at any time, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the Contests. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to the Contest Sponsors for the purpose of the Contests must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant should such an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information.
2. Contest Periods
The Contest entry period (each a “Contest Period”) shall start on 08/4/2026 at 12:00 AM PST and end at 08/31/2026 at 11:59 PM PST as indicated on bunzlsafety.ca/safetysmarts (the “Contest Website”) after which time the Contest will be closed and no other entries shall be accepted.
3. How To Enter
There is no purchase necessary to enter a Contest.
- To enter a Contest, a participant must enter prior to the end of the applicable Contest Period. To enter, visit the Contest Website and complete and submit the Contest entry form as instructed. Entries must be received prior to the end of the applicable Contest Period to be eligible for entry.
- For each Contest, there is a limit of one (1) entry per person per Contest Period, unless otherwise indicated. In the case of multiple entries, only the first eligible entry will be considered and the remainder will be void.
- All entries must be received prior to the indicated Contest Period entry deadline. Entries will be declared invalid if they are late, illegible or incomplete. No communication or correspondence will be exchanged with entrants except with those selected as a potential Contest winner.
- Entries received online shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the entry, as applicable. For the purposes of these Contest Rules, “authorized account holder” of an e-mail address, is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses, for the domain or account associated with the submitted e-mail address. Each selected entrant may be required to provide proof that the selected entrant is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the winning entry.
4. Prize Conditions
- Each Contest prize shall have an approximate retail value between one Canadian dollar (CDN $1.00) and one thousand Canadian dollars (CDN $1,000.00) and shall be announced and described on LinkedIn, Facebook, and/or the Contest Website at the beginning of each Contest Period. Winners shall not be entitled to receive the difference between the actual prize value and the approximate prize value.
- All incidental costs and expenses of any nature or kind not specifically referred to as part of the prize description in these Contest Rules or where the prize is announced (the “Expenses”) are the sole responsibility of the prize winner, where applicable. All prize elements are subject to availability and substitution. The winner shall not seek reimbursement for the Expenses from the Contest Sponsors.
- Winners will be contacted by the Contest Sponsors with instructions on how to claim the prize.
- Contest prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred, assigned, substituted or redeemed for cash, except at the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsors. Any unused portion of a prize will be forfeited and have no cash value. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a prize (or any portion thereof) cannot be awarded for any reason.
- The Contest Sponsors shall not assume any liability for lost, damaged or misdirected prizes.
- In the case of gift cards or gift certificates, the terms by which the gift cards or gift certificates may be redeemed are governed by the applicable retailer or service provider. The Contest Sponsors shall not be responsible for administering or ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the gift cards or gift certificates.
5. Winner Selection
- Following the end of the applicable Contest Period, the Contest Sponsors will select one (1) entrant (or more, if applicable, based on the number of prizes available to be won) by a random draw from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period, unless otherwise indicated. Each entrant shall be eligible to win only one (1) prize. The odds of being selected as a potential winner are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received for the Contest. Any remaining entries will not be carried over for entry in the next Contest.
- Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant(s) shall be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered during a pre-arranged telephone call or by e-mail, to comply with these Contest Rules and will be required to sign and return the Release (described below).
- If the selected entrant does not respond within three (3) business days of notification, they will be disqualified and will not receive a prize and another entrant may be selected (as determined by the Contest Sponsors in their sole discretion) until such time as an entrant satisfies the terms set out herein. The Contest Sponsors are not responsible for the failure for any reason whatsoever of a selected entrant to receive notification or for the Contest Sponsors to receive a selected entrant’s response.
- If, as a result of an error relating to the entry process, drawing or any other aspect of a Contest, there are more selected entrants than contemplated in these Contest Rules, there will be a random draw amongst all eligible prize claimants to award the correct number of prizes.
6. Release
Before being officially declared a winner of a prize in a Contest, the selectant entrant will be required to execute and return a legal agreement and release in the form provided by the Contest Sponsors (“Release”) that confirms the entrants: (i) eligibility for a Contest and compliance with these Contest Rules; (ii) acceptance of the prize as offered; (iii) grant all consents as may be required; (iv) authorizes the Contest Sponsors to use their name, city, province/territory of residence, photograph, biographical information, statements, voice and likeness in any advertising and publicity the Sponsor and its successors, assigns and licensees may conduct relating to the Contest or other contests in any media or format at no additional compensation to the selected entrant beyond the awarding of or participation in a prize; (v) release of the Contest Sponsors, and each of their respective agents, employees, directors, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”) from claims, actions, costs, liabilities or damages which may arise directly or indirectly in connection with the Contest, the entrant’s participation in the Contest, or the acceptance, receipt, defect in, delivery of, use, inability to use, or misuse or possession of the prize. The executed Release(s) must be returned within two (2) business days of the date indicated on the accompanying letter of notification or verification as a winner, or the selected individual(s) will be disqualified and any rights he or she may have to the prize will be forfeited.
7. Indemnification By Entrant
By entering a Contest, each entrant releases and holds the Releasees harmless from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to the entrants or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, participation in the Contest, any breach of the Contest Rules, or in any prize-related activity. Each entrant agrees to fully indemnify the Releasees from any and all claims by third parties relating to the Contest, without limitation.
8. Limitation Of Liability
The Contest Sponsors assume no responsibility or liability for lost, late, unintelligible/illegible, falsified, damaged, misdirected or incomplete entries, notifications, responses, replies, Releases, or for any computer, online, software, telephone, hardware or technical malfunctions that may occur, including but not limited to malfunctions that may affect the transmission or non-transmission of an entry. The Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contests or by any technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contests. The Contest Sponsors assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, e-mail, players, or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing or otherwise. The Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any injury or damage to any entrant or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials related to the Contests. Entrant assumes liability for injuries caused or claimed to be caused by participating in the Contests, or by the acceptance, possession, use of, or failure to receive any prize or aspect thereof. The Contest Sponsors assume no responsibility or liability in the event that the Contests, or any of them, cannot be conducted as planned for any reason, including those reasons beyond the control of the Contest Sponsors, such as infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or corruption of the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contests and/or the Contest Website.
9. Contest Rules Binding
By participating in a Contest, each entrant agrees to be bound by the Contest Rules. Entrants further agree to be bound by the decisions of the Contest Sponsors, which shall be final and binding in all respects. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant found to be: (a) violating the Contest Rules; (b) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of a Contest, the Contest Website, or any related promotional website; (c) violating the terms of service, conditions of use and/or general rules or guidelines of any the Sponsor’s property or services; and/or (d) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE CONTEST WEBSITE OR ANY RELATED WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE CONTEST SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. If applicable, winners must at all times behave appropriately when taking part in the prize and observe the Contest Rules and any other rules or regulations in force at any prize-related locations. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to remove from any prize-related locations, any winner and/or guest who breaks such rules and/or fails to behave appropriately and to disqualify such winner and/or guest.
10. Privacy / Use of Personal Information
“Personal Information” is information about an identifiable individual.
By entering or participating in the Contest, each entrant consents to communicating with the Contest Sponsors, including by private messaging for the purposes of the Contests. No communication, commercial or otherwise, unrelated to the Contests will be sent to entrants unless an entrant has otherwise provided consent to do so. The Contest Sponsors may ask entrants’ permission to receive commercial electronic messages from the Contest Sponsors when they register for a Contest. To unsubscribe from these commercial electronic messages, it is possible to use the unsubscribe mechanism. By entering or participating in the Contest, each entrant: (i) consents to the collection, use and disclosure of their Personal Information by the Contest Sponsors solely for the purpose of organizing, administering and completing the Contests, including but not limited to contacting and announcing the winner and coordinating the provision of the Contest prize; (ii) grants to the Contest Sponsors the right to use their name, city/province of residence, picture, biographical information, statements, voice and likeness in any advertising and publicity Sponsor and its respective successors, assigns and licensees may conduct relating to the Contests in any media or format, whether now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the World Wide Web, at any time or times in perpetuity, without further compensation or notice, and hereby releases the Releasees from any liability with respect thereto; and (iii) acknowledges that the Contest Sponsors may disclose their Personal Information to third-party agents and service providers of the Contest Sponsors solely in connection with any of the activities listed in (ii) and/or (iii) above. For entrants located in Quebec, Personal Information may be communicated outside Quebec. Except as set out in these Contest Rules, or as consented to by an entrant or the winner, the Contest Sponsors will not sell, share or otherwise disclose Personal Information to third parties except as set out herein or as permitted or required by Law. Bunzl will use each entrant’s Personal Information only for identified purposes set out herein, and will protect each entrant’s Personal Information in a manner that is consistent with the Bunzl’s Privacy Policy found at: https://bunzlcanada.ca/privacy.
Entrants have the right to access their Personal Information and correct or update their Personal Information within the limits and under the terms of applicable laws. Entrants also have the right to withdraw their consent to the use, disclosure and retention of their Personal Information, and the treatment of this request will depend upon the situation and purpose. Either an entrant may withdraw their consent, but will automatically be disqualified from the Contests, or an entrant may not withdraw their consent because the processing of such Personal Information may be necessary of mandatory. In all cases the Contest Sponsors may be required to retain certain Personal Information in order to meet its legal obligations. By entering or participating in the Contests, entrants consent and authorize the Contest Sponsors to publish the winner’s list on the Organization’s social media channels.
11. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property, including but not limited to trade-marks, trade names, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source code, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations used in connection with a Contest or the Contests are owned by the Contest Sponsors and/or their affiliates or licensors. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
12. Termination
The Contract Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to terminate any Contest, in whole or in part, and/or modify, amend or suspend a Contest, and/or the Contest Rules in any way, at any time, for any reason without prior notice.
13. Official Contest Rules
These are the official Contest Rules. The Contests are subject to applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. The Contest Rules are subject to change without notice in order to comply with any applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws or the policy of any other entity having jurisdiction over the Contest Sponsors and/or the Contests. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the Contest Rules or the rights and obligations as between the entrant and the Contest Sponsors in connection with the Contests shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario including procedural provisions without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws.
14. Language Discrepancy
In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of the Contest Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including but not limited to the Contest entry form, or point of sale, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of the Contest Rules shall prevail, govern and control.
15. Social Media
This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by any social media platforms on which the Contest may have been promoted and/or publicized, including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and/or X. Any personal information provided in connection with the Contest is being provided to the Contest Sponsors and not to any social media provider. Any questions or comments regarding a Contest must be directed to the Contest Sponsors and not to any of the social media platforms on which the Contest may have been advertised or administered.
