Are YOU Ready For Bill 190?

New regulations took effect on July 1, 2025, requiring Ontario employers and constructors to implement significant changes in how they manage and report employee washroom cleanliness. These requirements were introduced in two phases:

Phase 1

As of July 1st, 2025 ,Ontario employers and constructors are required to properly maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of all employee washrooms. Records of employee washroom cleaning must be kept, maintained, and made readily accessible if requested, including the date and time of each cleaning.

Phase 2

As of January 1st, 2026, employers are required to keep, maintain, and make all records of washroom cleaning accessible to employees. Records must be posted in or near all employee washrooms in a noticeable location, or posted electronically with clear instructions on how employees can access them.

For employers, records must include the date and time of the two most recent washroom cleanings. For constructors, records must include the previous six months of cleaning records, or the duration of the project, whichever is shorter.

How To Be Compliant

Compliance doesn’t have to be complicated. CleanWatch™ is a simple‑to‑install, intuitive digital interface that makes maintaining and accessing washroom cleaning records easier.

CleanWatch™ uses QR codes to track and consolidate all employee washroom cleaning activity. Staff simply scan a QR code to sign off once a washroom has been cleaned, creating a digital record with the date and time of service.

Employees can then scan the same QR code to view the most recent cleaning records.

Employers can access all cleaning records from a smartphone or desktop, helping ensure washrooms are maintained in line with established cleaning schedules.

Stay Clean. Stay Safe. Stay Compliant.
